What Families Are Saying About Columbia Meadows

Questions Families Ask Us Most

Is Columbia Meadows a good fit even if my parent is still fairly independent?

Absolutely. Many of our residents are quite independent. They just need a little help with medications, meals, or peace of mind knowing someone is always nearby. We support independence while providing a safety net. Your parent keeps their routine, their space, and their dignity.

How is Columbia Meadows different from a nursing home?

A nursing home is a medical facility. Columbia Meadows is a home. We're smaller, warmer, and family-run. Our residents have their own space, eat home-cooked meals, and live on their own terms. Plus, our on-site physician Dr. Elaine Ip provides daily medical oversight, something most assisted living facilities cannot offer.

Can we visit before making a decision?

Of course, and we encourage it. We offer free private tours where you can see the home, meet our staff, ask any questions, and get a feel for the environment. Many families tell us they knew it was right the moment they walked in.

What does it cost, and does insurance help cover it?

Costs vary depending on the level of care needed. We're happy to walk you through pricing during a tour or phone call. While traditional health insurance typically doesn't cover assisted living, long-term care insurance, veterans' benefits, and Medicaid waivers may help. We'll help you understand your options.

What if my loved one's needs increase over time?

We're prepared for that. Because Dr. Ip is here every day, we can adjust care plans quickly and proactively, not reactively. If needs change, we adapt. Our goal is to keep your loved one comfortable and cared for as long as possible.

What does a typical day look like for residents?

Every day is different. Residents wake up on their own schedule, enjoy a home-cooked breakfast, and choose how to spend their day: reading, socializing, playing piano, gardening, or simply relaxing. We have activities that go on almost everyday. These activities include Zumba, Fitness Class, musical performances, and more. Meals are served family-style, and there's always someone around to chat with.

Can my loved one bring their own furniture or personal items?

Yes! We encourage it. Personal belongings make a space feel like home. Residents can bring furniture, photos, artwork, bedding, whatever helps them feel comfortable and connected to their life.
